With our annual Reclaim The Night cancelled this year due to Covid-19, GRASAC is marking the 25th November on the International Day For The Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls which marks the start of 16 Days of Activism Against Gendered Violence, ending on the 10th December.
During this time, we will be running our own social media awareness raising campaign #RaiseYourVoice to show solidarity for women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence and raise awareness of the crucial necessity for survivors to have access to support. Our overall aim is to end violence against women and girls. We will post every day during the 16 days.
The campaign will feature written and spoken poetry from survivors and supporters and up-to-date facts and figures with a focus on sexual violence. We will also post portraits of individuals holding a sign with the writing ‘I am raising my voice to…’ and a short statement of their choosing. We want to invite the public to post selfies, alongside the hashtag #RaiseYourVoice, holding their own sign with the same statement
