- To educate the public around the nature and extent of sexual violence and its impact on people, especially women and girls.
Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre believes every person should be free from sexual violence. We are committed to support, respect and empower survivors of rape and sexual abuse, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, age and other discriminatory factors. Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre aims to support women and girls to understand and manage the effects of their experiences of sexual violence; it is also committed to working with partner agencies to raise public awareness of the issues of sexual violence in order to reduce the incidence.
The work of GRASAC is underpinned by a strong set of values which are:
We are committed to equality and inclusivity and oppose discrimination in everything we do.This comes out of an awareness that women experience disadvantage and discrimination because of their gender, class, sexuality, ethnicity, religion and age.
We treat all survivors as individuals and provide a non-judgemental service while recognising service user survival strategies and treating women and girls with dignity.
We provide an open and transparent service that validates survivors’ feelings, dispels myths around sexual violence and empowers and enables survivors.
We work in partnership with other agencies to offer women and girls a choice around the services they access and how they access them.
We strive to provide a safe and effective service that is of high quality and professional at all times.
